[People News] Ukraine recently captured two Chinese nationals serving as Russian soldiers. In the footage released by the Ukrainian side, the soldiers held Chinese passports and spoke only Mandarin, using gestures to describe combat scenarios. Ukraine presented this evidence to the world to expose the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) long-standing lie that it is a "supporter of peaceful conflict resolution" and that it has not taken Russia’s side in the war. Nevertheless, the CCP continued to deny that Chinese citizens are participating in the war and insisted it was not escalating the conflict.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky followed up by releasing the detailed identities and interrogation footage of the two Chinese soldiers, accusing the CCP of sending large numbers of soldiers to fight for Russia. On April 8, Zelensky demanded that the CCP provide an explanation.
Naturally, the CCP stuck to its usual deceptive tactics and denied everything. On April 9, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded, calling the claims about assisting Russia in combat "completely unfounded." However, on that very day, Zelensky published the interrogation videos. One of the captives was identified as Zhang Renbo, a 26-year-old from Jiangxi, China. He said this was his first mission and his first time in combat. He had been issued an AK-74 assault rifle and was assigned to a joint mission with a Russian soldier. The other captive identified himself as Wang Guangjun from Zhengzhou, Henan. His Chinese passport, issued in Beijing, was published by Ukrainian officials. Wang said his temporary squad initially had three Chinese soldiers, but they got separated. He later encountered two Russian soldiers from another unit. Somehow, a fight broke out, and Ukrainian troops saved his life: "The Russians threw tear gas into the bunker. The smoke was thick, choking — I couldn’t breathe! I didn’t know how to escape, so I just stayed there, dazed. I felt like I was dying of suffocation. A Ukrainian soldier, who had already run out, came back in and grabbed me by the collar, pulling me out. I passed out in the process."
Zelensky posted on platform X that Ukraine now has verified data on at least 155 Chinese citizens participating in combat on behalf of Russia, noting that the actual number is likely far higher. On April 10, he again accused Russia of systematically recruiting Chinese nationals to fight, calling it a deliberate step toward escalating the war, and further evidence that Moscow seeks only to prolong the conflict.
Throughout the war, the CCP has tried to play both sides — presenting itself as a “true friend” to Russia while maintaining commercial ties with Ukraine. However, according to intelligence from the U.S. and other sources, the CCP has secretly supported Russia's military efforts by transporting weapons disguised as civilian goods. Despite overwhelming evidence, including human testimony and physical proof, the CCP continues to lie.
At the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s press briefing on April 10, a reporter from Agence France-Presse (AFP) asked about Zelensky’s claim that at least 155 Chinese nationals were fighting for Russia in Ukraine. Spokesperson Lin Jian responded with boilerplate phrases: that China is not a party to the conflict and that it supports peaceful solutions. Then, in a condescending tone, he admonished "relevant parties" (i.e., Zelensky) to view China's role rationally and not to make "irresponsible remarks."
When pressed further on whether China was verifying the presence of Chinese mercenaries and whether Russia was trying to draw China into the war, Lin Jian said there was "no information to share" but again repeated that China promotes peace and negotiation, and reiterated that "relevant parties" should be rational and avoid irresponsible statements.
So why does the CCP keep denying everything? Because the number of Chinese troops sent to aid Russia in the invasion of Ukraine is top-secret information, the regime doesn’t want the world to know. Beijing seeks to maintain its image as a peacebroker, especially amid growing international isolation, intensifying global trade wars, and ongoing U.S.-Russia and U.S.-Ukraine negotiations. The CCP is trying to maintain a strategic balance and polish its image to extract maximum benefit.
In truth, the world is filled with hidden facts — truths people want but cannot know: Who ordered the assassination attempt on Trump during the election? Why? What’s the current status? How many actually died in the Myanmar earthquake? How many Chinese soldiers has the CCP really sent to fight in Ukraine? How many Chinese citizens have been victims of the CCP’s illegal organ harvesting? How many people have truly died in recent waves of disease outbreaks in China?
Why are such life-and-death truths kept hidden from the public? Because of political motives by those in power, the complexities of international relations, and — in many cases — the incompetence of those in charge. But in the CCP's case, it is mainly due to the nature of the regime: its survival depends on lies, violence, and chaos. It is a system driven by self-interest, ruled by thugs who seek personal gain, and who, perhaps, see themselves as on a mission to bring destruction. That is why for the CCP, lying, suppressing the truth, and inciting conflict are not only normal, they are considered correct and necessary. This is the real reason why the CCP sends troops to help Russia attack Ukraine while simultaneously calling Zelensky "irresponsible."
